Grant title: Temporal Information in Crossmodal Stimuli

This project analyses the brain mechanism dealing with asynchronous sensory signals. Timing of sensory information is essential for many aspects of human perception and action. Simultaneity, for example, can be used to integrate redundant sensory information that has been captured by distinct sense organs and processed in separate brain areas. However, the process is not straightforward – timing of perceived stimuli does not always correspond to objective time of distal events. The project will investigate the range of asynchronies at which sensory information is regarded as related to a unique world event and how the brain deals with temporal inconsistencies between sensory signals.
