Le mécénat féminin en France et en Bourgogne, XVe-XVIe siècles: Nouvelles perspectives, is a collection of essays by young and established scholars edited by Elizabeth L’Estrange and Laure Fagnart. The articles explore media as diverse as painting, manuscripts, architecture, metalwork, and court ceremonials to analyse the different ways in which women used art to express their personal, religious and dynastic interests in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. In addition to offering new interpretations of the patronage of well-known women such as Catherine de’Medici, Isabeau of Bavaria and Mary of Burgundy, the articles also highlight the contribution of lesser known patrons, such as Jacquette de Montbron, Philippe of Guelders, and Marie d’Anjou to the field of women’s patronage.
