Emma Wagstaff, Lecturer in French, co-organised a research workshop at the Centre International de Poésie in Marseilles on 19-20 September 2013. The centre is housed in the beautiful setting of the Vieille Charité in the centre of Marseilles's old town, and it includes a specialist poetry library as well as a film and exhibition centre.

The workshop formed part of the network on contemporary French poetry funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council that Emma Wagstaff organises with Nina Parish (University of Bath) and it focused on the subject of poetry and translation. As well as academic presentations, it included a poetry translation workshop led by professional translators Jennie Feldman and Stephen Romer. Participants worked on texts by Apollinaire and Guy Goffette, leading to several different versions and lively debate. The event concluded with a round table discussion.
