Dr Shelley Godsland's status as a leading international scholar working on Hispanic crime and detective fictions garnered her an invitation to give a guest lecture at the Soria Campus of Spain's prestigious Universidad de Valladolid which has its origins in the thirteenth century.

Dr Godsland's lecture focused on Beltenebros by Antonio Muñoz Molina, one of the country's foremost contemporary novelists, and offered a reading of the generic origins of the work. The lecture was attended by over 70 undergraduates and members of staff, and was hosted by Dr Ricardo de la Fuente Ballesteros.
