160 sixth-formers from schools across the West Midlands attended an event organised by Ashleigh Lin, Katharine Chisholm, and Renate Reniers, who run the Secondary Schools Research Group in the School of Psychology.
160 sixth-formers from schools across the West Midlands attended an event organised by Ashleigh Lin, Katharine Chisholm, and Renate Reniers, who run the Secondary Schools Research Group in the School of Psychology. Schools that have recently contributed to research conducted by the group were invited to bring Year 12 students who are considering applying to study psychology at university.
This was an opportunity to find out more about studying psychology at university, as well as different psychology career paths. Students received short talks on clinical, forensic, educational, organisational and neuropsychology, as well as an introduction to different areas of research conducted by the School and an insight into university life from some current and past undergraduate students. Feedback from psychology teachers who attended the event with their students has been very positive.

For some it was a ‘light-bulb’ event in that they were able to really find out about the different areas of study and engage with the different experts in each field. They came back to school enthused and full of praise for the department at Birmingham."
