Paul Schulte is a Non-Resident Senior Associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, a Research Fellow in the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and a Senior Visiting Fellow in the Centre for Defence Studies at King's College London. In 2004, Paul was Director of Defence Organisation in the Office of National Security Affairs in Iraq, responsible for rebuilding the Iraqi Ministry of Defence and advising senior Iraqi officials. In 2004, he was the founding Head of the UK's interdepartmental Post Conflict Reconstruction Unit (now the Stabilisation Unit) which conducted the first integrated civil/military campaign plan in UK expeditionary history, for Helmand Province.
