BUMS has had a great academic year, unfortunately it’s almost coming to an end for this years committee as the committee for next year has been elected!
We’ve been really proud of some of the events we have managed to run this term. They were mainly career focused, with a popular trip to the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Solihull where students got a tour of the manufacturing area. We also ran a CV workshop with the aim of getting students to get their CVs checked and improve upon them in general.
Due to the increased focus on the careers related events we have created a new role within the society of careers representative and we hope this means increased career related opportunities for BUMS members.
It’s not all serious business though – we also had a successful Christmas party in the School which was a nice way to end the first term and since then have also organised a roller disco night out. We hope to run a few more events before our time on the committee is over!
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, the Materials Ball is taking place this summer on the 18th June at the Botanical Gardens. We hope the event will be a night to remember and a good way to end our time as presidents of BUMS.
The Materials Ball is open for alumni to attend so if you would like to come along you can purchase your ticket from the website below:
