The Centre for Russian and East European Studies (CREES) has been at the forefront of scholarship of the region since it was founded in 1963. Five decades from its creation, the time is now right to amend the name of the Centre to better reflect changes in geopolitics. We have changed the name of the Centre to the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (still CREES of course!).

Tim Haughton the Director of CREES who instigated and got approval for the change of name commented, 'the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies is not only a more appropriate label for the twenty-first century, but it also captures much better the breadth of geographical expertise in the Centre which stretches across the European continent into Central Asia'.
