Our department has been ranked 1st overall in the UK in the latest Guardian University Guide.

This shows an improvement of five positions compared with the previous year and puts the department at the top in the country confirming Birmingham as the best place to study Drama and Theatre Arts in the UK.

In the Department we are delighted to receive this recognition especially because it directly represents our students' experience, reflecting their satisfaction with the course overall, with our teaching standards and the commitment we consistently make to our students as a team. We think of the Department very much as a community that involves students and staff alike, brought together by our dedication to critical thinking and practice, to exploring the past and present of theatre and to asking urgent questions about the kinds of performance we can create today. Our commitment to our students continues long after they graduate and it pleases us to see that another factor contributing to our ranking is our students' employability. For us, this is a shared success.
