English language and literature have been ranked at 39 In the higher education QS World University Rankings for 2014.
In the Higher Education Network Series QS World University Rankings for 2014, which lists the top 100 universities in the world, English language and literature have been ranked at 39, up 12 places from 51 in 2013. This put English at Birmingham in the top ten among UK universities.
