On Thursday 27thNovember 2014, the School of Education welcomed the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP, Secretary of State for Education as its guest speaker for the annual Priestley Lecture. The event which attracted around 180 staff, students, alumni, partnership schools and guests including Michael Roden, the Principal of the new University of Birmingham School, was introduced by Professor James Arthur, Head of the School of Education.
Nicky Morgan delivered a 45 minute speech addressing ‘Our plan for Education’ and discussed a national mission which must be a partnership of teachers, governors, parents, businesses, unions, government as well as many others. Her presentation was followed by a Q & A session chaired by Professor Saul Becker, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Social Sciences.
