Hello from NucSoc

NucSoc is the University of Birmingham's undergraduate Nuclear Society. We aim to provide the nuclear student body with academic support and socials throughout their time at Birmingham. Will Moncaster, NucSoc Secretary, tells us more.

Since the new term started, NucSoc has mainly been working with BUMS (Birmingham University Materials Society) in organising the Materials Ball and the corresponding Careers Event. The Ball was held on Saturday 28 February at the Paragon Hotel in Birmingham City Centre and saw close to 200 guests attend for a night of music, food and lots of fun.  The Ball was paired with a careers event the day before and industrial representatives visited the School of Metallurgy & Materials to talk to students about their companies and the roles available within them. We look forward to the continued success of this event and the opportunities it holds for both our students and those organisations who volunteer their time – we are extremely grateful. If you would like to get involved in our future events and activities please email eps-community@bham.ac.uk.

Besides this, NucSoc has hosted a film night and is looking forward to the famous Harborne Mile for its end of semester social.

More academically, NucSoc has been involved with the Deputy Head of College Professor Jon Binner and other societies across the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences to deliver some exciting new ideas for the future of the College and the University.

If you would like to keep up to date with what we’re up to, please join us on Facebook.

Best wishes,

Will Moncaster, Secretary
