During the autumn semester, MA Shakespeare and Creativity students have been working with Royal Shakespeare Company Director Justin Audibert and RSC sound designer Claire Windsor on an original play, culminating in a performance in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre front-of-house on 9 December.
During the autumn semester, MA Shakespeare and Creativity students have been working with RSC Director Justin Audibert and RSC sound designer Claire Windsor on an original play, culminating in a performance in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre front-of-house on Wednesday 9 December.
The new play, Shakespeare’s Lost Children, was devised by the students and inspired by the lost children of NeverLand, and draws on the stories of Shakespeare’s Perdita (The Winter’s Tale), Cordelia (king Lear), and Marina (Pericles) in their search for the parents they have lost.
"It has been such a rewarding experience getting to work so closely with artists from the RSC, having their support to make our ideas on a page come to life. The generosity and enthusiasm of the RSC team which we learned from and worked with throughout the term has been truly inspiring, making our project more than what I ever could have imagined. The chance to experience new styles of performance, directing, and production from prominent professionals in their respective fields has been invaluable, introducing me to a new range of possibilities in the theatre and beyond"
