We are delighted to announce, following a recent visit from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Social Work programmes both BA and MA ‘have met all of the HCPC’s 58 Standards of Education and Training without any conditions.’ This is high praise from the Council.

The Health and Care Professions Council is the regulatory body in England and was set up to protect the public. To do this, they keep a Register of health and care professionals who meet their standards for their training, professional skills, behaviour and health. They may also take action against professional s who do not meet their standards of practice.

The HCPC undertook an Approval Visit. The purpose of this visit was to determine if the programmes met all of the Standards of Education and Training (SETs) and that those students, who complete the programme, meet HCPC’s Standards of Proficiency (SOPs) for the relevant part of the Register.   Following their visit the Visitors recommended to HCPC’s Education and Training Committee that the programmes are approved and did not set us any conditions. We are very pleased with this result for more than a century we have been training social workers to encourage and empower people so that others can follow and benefit.
