October 2016 sees the British Academy hosting a conference on the use of behavioural science techniques to target prolific criminals. The conference will take place at the stunning headquarters of the British Academy in central London.
Proposed by Dr Jessica Woodhams and colleagues from Birmingham City University and VU, Amsterdam, the conference will bring together practitioners and academics from multiple disciplines (including crime analysts, police behavioural investigative advisors, psychologists, computer scientists and legal practitioners). It is also a truly international conference with speakers and chairs coming from North America and Europe.
Dr Woodhams explains, “This is a really exciting opportunity to hear from leading experts from across the globe about how inter-disciplinary working can produce research findings to assist the police in the difficult job of apprehending serial and prolific criminals. The School of Psychology is delighted to sponsoring five places at the event for Psychology undergraduate students, at the University of Birmingham – it is a great opportunity for our students to hear first-hand from international experts who are engaged in work that has an important impact in the real world”.
