Professor Jon Glasby has recently published an article in the British Medical Journal entitled ‘After “the end of local government as we know it,” what next for social care?’
In this article, he considers the current funding crisis in social care. As Jon explains, increases in council tax payments to provide a ‘precept’ can only be at best a short-term fix, what is needed is a national debate on the future of social care and a more profound consideration of the issues and options.
