Beatriz Padilla and Vera Rodriguez from the University Institute of Lisbon, contribute to a World Health Organisation Newsletter, 'Public Health Aspects of Migration in Europe' with their article 'How occupational health impacts migrant health: A case study from Portugal'.
Ethnographic data collected in an UPWEB project allowed them to write a small piece on how bad working conditions have a significant impact on migrants' health. In a context characterised by limited knowledge about their rights as workers and migrants, migrants found different strategies to cope with health concerns. Interventions are needed urgently because there are not specific policies targeting migrants in the field of occupational health.
