Shana Gander-Zaucker, Doctoral Researcher in the School of Psychology, has won the Overall Winner achievement award, at the Graduate School’s 10th annual Research Poster Conference. This year the event was held at the Aston Webb building at the University of Birmingham on 14 June.
Her poster ‘You Deserve Better: Domestic Abuse & Improving Victims’ Services’ describes her research, which focuses on creating a mechanism to direct service improvements for people who have experienced domestic abuse. The research will be conducted by interviewing representatives from three stakeholder groups (domestic abuse survivors, domestic abuse support staff, and criminal justice staff) about their experiences of current services in order to identify priorities for change. The group representatives then come together for a collaborative co-design event, in order to plan improvements. The study will also investigate the process and outcome of the co-design intervention. Her research is supervised by Dr Michael Larkin and by Professor John Rose.
The Research Poster Conference was judged by academics as well as by professional members of staff. Ninety posters from across all colleges were presented and it was a great networking opportunity for all. The event was very successful and more than 390 guests attended the event.
At the end of the Research Poster Conference awards were handed out for: Overall Winner, Public’s Choice Award, winners from individual colleges, Best Poster, Best Presentation, and PGMSA Peer Award. These achievements as well as others were later celebrated at the University Graduate School and Teaching Academy Awards Event.
