Professor Barbara Aland has been awarded the Burkitt Medal for Biblical Studies.
ITSEE is delighted to congratulate Professor Barbara Aland, former director of the Institute for New Testament Textual Research (INTF) in Münster and editor of the Greek New Testament, on the award of the Burkitt Medal for Biblical Studies by the British Academy. The award marks her "significant contribution to New Testament textual research".
Announced on Tuesday morning on the British Academy website, the medal was awarded in the evening at a dinner at which Professor David Parker FBA, Director of ITSEE, was present. Among the previous recipients of the medal is Professor Kurt Aland, husband of Professor Aland, who was awarded the medal in 1975.
The announcement is particularly auspicious as this week also marks the start of a new formal partnership between the INTF and the University of Birmingham for work on the Novum Testamentum Graecum Editio Critica Maior, the first fascicles of which appeared under Professor Aland's direction.
