Rio Paralympic success for University of Birmingham alumnas
Three University of Birmingham Sport (UBSport) alumnas are celebrating success at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
Three University of Birmingham Sport (UBSport) alumnas are celebrating success at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
Pamela Relph MBE was defending her gold medal title in the LTA Mixed Coxed Four, Alison Patrick was making her Paralympic debut in the para-triathlon PT5 and Lora Turnham was going for gold in the Tandem B 3000m Pursuit.
All three alumnas came out with medals in Sunday’s events.
- Pamela Relph MBE (Physics, 2011) was in the final of the LTA Mixed Coxed Four to try and retain her gold medal from London and once again they did it!
- Lora Turnham (Physiotherapy, 2010) finished first in the Tandem B 3000m Pursuit qualifier with pilot Corrine Hall and then went on to get GOLD in the final!
- Alison Patrick (Physiotherapy, 2009) competed in the Para-triathlon PT5 and won a SILVER medal, making it an all-round hugely successful Sunday for UBSport alumni!
Lora Turnhamand Corrine Hall will be the focus once again this Paralympics, on Wednesday, when they compete in the time trial.
There is still one more UBSport athlete to look out for at the Games when 2014 PGCE graduate Laura Sugar begins her Paralympic campaign, also on Wednesday, competing for Great Britain in the 100m and 200m T43/44.
