SCWO is an advanced hydrothermal process for the destruction of hazardous organics, abundant in wastes. SCWO is the best replacement for incineration because it has zero emissions and minimal ashes, eliminating landfill and disposal issues. Additionally, it produces enough energy to self-sustain, and generates steam.
This paper focuses on the influence of adding alcohol as co-fuel, on the process enhancement in terms of: (i) the destruction of waste, and (ii) the reaction pathway, in a continuous system. Results showed to be highly favourable in terms of better destruction of organics on the one hand and reducing the persistent recalcitrant intermediates on the other hand.
