It was with great sadness that the School of Social Policy learned of the death of Bob Holman, a former member of staff at the University. Bob was truly inspirational to everyone who met him – kind, gentle and passionately committed to living his life in a way that made a difference to people. The School was so proud when Bob received an honorary degree from Birmingham, and when he received a lifetime achievement award at this year’s Social Worker of the Year awards.
Bob’s obituary in the Guardian gives just a small flavour of his immense contribution, and the School is proud to have known and to have worked with him.
