Following the momentous decision announced on the 24 of June 2016 that Britain intended to exit the EU, the issue of ‘lost labour’ for the farming sector quickly emerged. Soft fruit growers were one of the first to speak out. The sector is worth around £1.2billion a year in the UK, but the harvesting of strawberries, blueberries and raspberriesis heavily reliant on migrant labour.
