Researchers from the University of Birmingham's Centre for Crime, Justice and Policing have been featured in a new 'Above and Beyond' campaign, launched at the Police Federation Conference
Researchers from the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Crime, Justice and Policing have been featured in a new ‘Above and Beyond’ campaign, launched at the Police Federation Conference earlier this week, which reports on the issues that impact on the health and safety of police officers.
As part of the campaign, a short reporter style film was developed with the Centre, introduced by newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, to show how Birmingham research is helping tackle some of the big challenges facing the criminal justice sector today.
During the film, Birmingham researchers Dr Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay and Dr Jessica Woodhams take to the streets to explore the effectiveness of ID scanning machines at nightclubs in reducing and solving crime, discuss the challenges of policing sexual violence, and demonstrate the value of academic and police collaboration to inform policy and practice.

Co-directed by Dr Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay and Dr Jessica Woodhams, this new Centre brings together a diverse group of academic researchers working within the areas of crime, justice and policing. The Centre acts as a unifying hub to support the needs of practitioners, providing training that will lead to sustainable knowledge transfer.
