A senior delegation from the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) of China visited the University of Birmingham to explore collaboration in energy storage and other energy technologies.
One of the top five power generators in China with a total installed capacity of 117 GW and 140,000 employees, SPIC is the only energy company in China that has major operations in thermal, hydro, nuclear and renewable energy powers.
SPIC delegates learned more about cutting-edge research being conducted at Birmingham from the University’s researchers and visited its hi-tech laboratories and facilities.
SPIC Vice President Mr Shi Jialin, who led the SPIC delegation, commented: “We are very delighted to be here today, visiting the University of Birmingham, a world-leader in energy storage and energy studies, to explore collaboration possibilities.
“As an integrated energy group with power as our core business, energy storage and related energy technologies are extremely important for SPIC, and we are committed to strengthening our capabilities in this area by developing international collaboration with leading institutions.
“I am pleased that through today’s discussion we have identified mutual interests and synergies to developing such collaborative relations.”
