Michael Zev Gordon has directed the highly successful Cheltenham Music Festival Composers Academy for a second time in July 2017.
University of Birmingham Professor of Composition, Michael Zev Gordon, ran an extremely busy and successful week of workshops, discussions and events at this year's Composers Academy at the Cheltenham Music Festival this July.
Working with the Ligeti String Quartet, the percussionist Joby Burgess and 12 postgraduate composers from the UK and internationally, the Academy culminated in 2 showcase concerts of new work on 15th and 16th July. The working atmosphere was intense, congenial and enthusiastic, leading to lively debate and burgeoning creative talent.
Michael's directorship of the Academy continues for a further year, in 2018, and sponsors of the Academy include the University of Birmingham.
