Simon Halsey CBE, Professor and Director of Choral Studies at Birmingham, was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Music on 7 March 2017 for his outstanding contribution to international musical life.
Presented the award by HRH The Prince of Wales, his work in choral singing has been recognised on the international stage
for the past 30 years. Halsey’s trusted relationships include the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Rundfunkchor Berlin, Palau de la Música, BBC Proms, and the Lincoln Center.
Professor Colin Lawson CBE, Director of the RCM, said: ‘it is hugely special to be joined by our President to celebrate so many eminent musicians and Royal College of Music supporters, who each make such an enormous contribution to the musical life of this country and beyond.’
