Staff and students baked delicious treats and buyers generously donated a grand total of £173. The winning baker, Karin Plimmer (Taught Programmes Team Manager) has nominated WaterAid as the chosen charity, saying 'It's a great international charity, in the spirit of the event."

Head of Department, Dr Stephen Forcer had the enviable task of sampling all the cakes as Official Judge, and awarded the following:

  • Winner:  Sticky Toffee Pudding (Karin Plimmer)
  • Highly commended:
    Banana Bread (Charlotte Julian)
    Auntie Moey’s Apfelgitterkuchen (Loulou McFadzen)
    Brigadeiros/Brazilian Fudge Balls (Abi Whitehouse)

Congratulations to the above, and a big thank you to everybody who got involved in baking and buying to help raise such an impressive donation. We will be collating the recipes into a little cookbook which will be available at the Ashley Building Office soon, and The Great International Bake Off will be back by popular demand next term.
