Congratulations to Delaram Sharifi on winning this year’s European partnership for railway energy settlement systems (ERESS) Award.
Dela is currently undertaking a PhD focusing on ‘Smart control for static converters; The future for rail traction’. She was one of two finalists selected to present her work to the ERESS committee and event attendees in Rome and presented via video link due to medical issues to win the coveted award.
The ERESS award is designed to give international recognition to projects made by students from universities around Europe, who have made systematic and innovative studies about how to efficiently use and preserve energy on railways and/or on trains.
Dela who is currently finishing her thesis and is now working for Atkins in its energy group, in Birmingham said, ‘I am thrilled to have won this award! The fact that the winner was chosen by the audience who were people from railway industry from all over Europe makes me particularly proud.’
