Mike Tomlinson and Natalie Poulter (Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, College of Medical and Dental Sciences) were awarded a PhD Studentship from the British Heart Foundation.

The grant will fund their former COMPARE-funded researcher Connie Koo (pictured), who was always confident of returning to Birmingham for her PhD.  Connie will start her PhD in May 2018 and will investigate shedding of the platelet-activating collagen/fibrin receptor by the ‘molecular scissor’ ADAM10 and regulatory tetraspanins.  The work may identify new drug targets for the treatment of heart attack and stroke.
