Professor Tim Barrett, Rare Diseases lead for NIHR Wellcome Clinical Research Facility, has led a successful bid to become a NIHR Bioresource Centre for Rare Diseases (covering the West Midlands region).
The NIHR BioResource - Rare Disease has been established to recruit patients with rare diseases and their relatives in order to identify genetic causes of rare diseases, improve rates of diagnosis and to enable studies to develop and validate treatments; thus improving care for those individuals with rare diseases and their families.
