The School of Metallurgy and Materials is delighted that graduate and soon-to-be PhD Amanda Field, and lecturer Ilija Rosovic have both been named amongst the 15 under 30 to watch.
Ilija, who joined the School in 2018, received his MEng in Materials Science at Corpus Christi College, Oxford and DPhil in Materials at St Cross College, Oxford. His achievements to date include winning the IOM3 International Literature Review Prize in 2016 and making the final of the IOM3 Young Persons’ World Lecture Competition in 2017. His ultimate goal is to make a contribution to the wide deployment of transformative nanomedicine in a clinical setting within his lifetime. His broader vision is to continue to champion materials science and make more accessible the obfuscated world of academic research.
Amanda completed her BEng Materials Science and Technology here and is currently finishing her PhD on additive manufacturing of tungsten for nuclear fusion reactors. Her achievements to date include presenting her work at international conferences, she was involved with an experimental parabolic flight campaign for the European Space Agency, using a demonstrator device to 3D print metal in zero gravity. Amanda also came second in the IOM3 Young Persons Lecture Competition. Her ultimate goal is to carry on working in additive manufacturing and to stay in R&D.
Congratulations to both Ilija and Amanda.
