The Midlands Regional Doctoral Colloquium took place on 16 December 2019 in the Business School, bringing together 82 participants from the Business Schools of Birmingham, Aston, Loughborough, Nottingham and Warwick. This was a chance for Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) to present their work in front of their peers as well as be a part of a wider research community within the Midlands.

Organised jointly by Professor Mark Saunders from the Business School and Dr Jonathan Crawshaw (Aston University) with support from Marleen Vanstockem and Fiona Barron, the colloquium was thought provoking, offered a strong multidisciplinary spirit. Those attending felt it was an excellent opportunity for these early career researchers to present their ideas in a supportive and collegiate environment.  Most of the seven streams of presentations were chaired by Birmingham Business School PGRs.  Forty-four PGRs presented their work over 5 disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management and Economics.   Professor Natasha Mauthner (University of Newcastle Business School) delivered an inspiring plenary session on the magic and mechanics of methods. 

The prize winners were Sahar Bakr (Nottingham), Jingmin Zhu (Birmngham), Patricia Sanchez-Campos (Nottingham), Li Tang (Birmingham), Rima Al Hasan (Warwick), Thaer Alhalabi (Loughborough), Liu Bowen (Birmingham), Seyit Gokmen (Birmingham), Yaopeng Wang (Birmingham), Megan Power (Warwick), Daniella Badu (Warwick, Fatima Jika (Loughborough), Julian Barnes (Birmingham), Kiran Kendade (Aston) and Susan Couloigner (Nottingham).
