Neve Isaeva, a Business School PhD student, has been selected by the editorial team of Personnel Review, as the Highly Commended winner of the 2020 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award.
Neve comments, “I am honoured to receive the prestigious EFMD and Emerald Best Doctoral Research Award. It was a privilege to study at the University of Birmingham.”
ODRA is a joint doctoral research award co-run by Emerald Group Publishing Ltd and EFMD, the award was based on four criteria: significance for theory and practise; originality and innovation, appropriateness and application of the methodology and quality of data/research. The award recognises meaningful and impactful research, as well as supporting doctoral graduates to advance in their discipline to make a difference in society.
Neve was supervised by Professor Mark Saunders from the Department of Management, who also won the ‘Excellence in Doctoral Research Supervision Award’ earlier this year. Professor Cathy Cassell, Dean of the Business School, comments, “I was delighted to hear about this excellent achievement by one of our PhD students; the award is a great representation of Neve’s contribution to human resources research so far. This achievement is also a signifier of the great support provided by our academic supervisors to PhD students, helping them to grow and develop in their field. This success is a reflection of the dedication to teaching, learning and supervision we see across the Business School as a whole.”
