This achievement is the work of a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of colleagues from the College of Social Sciences, Life and Environmental Science, and the Medical and Dental School who work together as part of the Institute of Global Innovation’s 21st century transnational crime theme, alongside an academic from the University of Bath.
Within the project, the academic team* will bring the essential skills that are needed to analyse and evaluate important policing and wider criminal justice interventions. The team will be analysing five specific interventions through various assessments, such as; its impact on crime, cost benefit, and how effective the process to deliver intervention is.
Through their work, they will shed light on what works in preventing violence and protecting the vulnerable, but also work to understand mechanisms behind the change or understand why the interventions may not have delivered the expected results.
Professor Bandyopadhyay comments on leading the project saying, “Protecting the vulnerable and preventing violence against them is at the heart of what the team does. Evaluating interventions will helps us assess the effectiveness of some current practices and help fine-tune them to better protect society by reducing harm”.
