University of Birmingham Professor, Bridget Eickhoff, has today been announced as one of the new Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Professor Eickhoff is a recognised as an international expert in railway vehicle-track interaction and wheel-rail interface engineering. She has made significant contributions to multi-body simulations of vehicle dynamics in vehicle design and approvals and improving railway performance by understanding of the wheel-rail interface, track forces and deterioration.
Becoming a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering is one of the highest honours that an engineer can receive in the UK. Professor Eickhoff joins 54 engineers from around the world who were elected this year in recognition of their outstanding and continuing contributions to the profession.
Bridget became an Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham in 2018. Today, she is an important contributor to the railway postgraduate programmes run by the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE). Within BCRRE she supports a range of activities linked to the MSc programmes, including the practical weekend in Wirksworth, and the PG Cert in Urban Railway Engineering (Singapore).
Reacting to the news, Bridget said: “I am delighted to have been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. It is a real honour to be recognised in this way and also helps to reflect the importance of Railway Engineering.”
