Many congratulations to Francesca BerryClaire Jones, Elizabeth L’Estrange, Kate Nichols and Jutta Vincent  on their success at the HEFi Awards evening last week.

The award was given for their work on ensuring that the curriculum in Art History, Curating and Visual studies is not only driven by staff research, but also educates students to a very high standard in the processes and practices of research.

The curriculum is clearly aligned with the research interests of the staff but their teaching is not only informed by research, it also involved students studying material objects. Thus encouraging them to engage with and interpret objects of study in a concrete, meaningful manner.

The External Examiner for the Undergraduate Art History programme highlighted this in their examiners report, ‘This is an excellent example of best practice as engagement with the object becomes an iterative process, with students building on this throughout their raft of assessments’.
