The Birmingham Energy Institute has partnered with Tyseley Energy Park to offer an integrated package of support that will drive business growth amongst low-carbon energy businesses.
The Birmingham Energy Incubation Hub will bring the office and workshop space available at TEP together with and the energy expertise and research facilities of the University of Birmingham’s ATETA programme.
Based in a refurbished 1800 century Mill, on the Tyseley Energy Park site the hub has five industrial units available now and will have ten industrial units available to let in 2021. The units range from 1000 sq. ft. (93 sq. m.) to 15000 sq. ft. (1394 sq. m.), there is also office accommodation to let ranging from 500 sq. ft. (46.5 sq. m.) to 3000 sq. ft. (279 sq. m.).
Businesses that become a part of this hub will drive transformational change in the generation, and use of clean power and heat.
In addition to the office/workshop space, businesses based at the Birmingham Energy Incubation Hub will receive one to one mentoring from University of Birmingham Research experts alongside access to the university’s world-leading laboratory facilities for testing and analytical work.
The facilities available to businesses based at the new Innovation Hub include an onsite toolroom and toolmaker. Businesses will also have access to Tyseley Energy Park’s secure and renewable power, sourced from the onsite biomass power station.
Speaking about the new incubation Hub, David Terry, Business Engagement Manager for the ATETA project said: “Here at the Birmingham Energy Institute we are particularly excited by this new partnership opportunity. The outreach to business though our ATETA team has identified a demand for incubator and workshop space for early stage energy sector companies. By working with TEP we are able to fulfil that demand and create a lively ecosystem of businesses collaborating with our research activity.”
