It is with great sadness that the University of Birmingham has learned of the death of our much-loved friend and former colleague Dr Colin Patrick, aged 90.
Colin was appointed Lecturer in chemistry in 1958 and made a Reader in Physical Chemistry in 1977 before retiring in 1989. After working on the development of Teflon in the 1960s, he was among the first scientists in the 1970s to speak out against the overuse of plastics and the depletion of the ozone layer. Colin succumbed to the Coronavirus in April.
