The People and Planet University League is a comprehensive and independent assessment of higher education institutions in the UK, evaluating their efforts and achievements in promoting sustainable practices, reducing carbon footprints, and fostering positive social impact.

The University of Birmingham's 2:2 rating demonstrates its dedication to sustainability across campus, teaching, and operational practices, and an ongoing commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact on the environment and society.

Today's announcement builds on the University's recent success, where it secured the 35th position in the 2024 QS World Sustainability Ranking. Additionally, the University's River Cole Community Commons project received high commendation at the UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards 2023.
