The Student Living accommodation team has received a silver Investor in Students award for its commitment to student experience.
Investor in Students measures the success of student accommodation providers against the views of students, front-line staff, and senior management, providing a comprehensive, 360° view across all areas of business.
Silver is the second-highest accreditation level providers can gain – and is awarded based on student and staff feedback, gathered in two yearly surveys. These cover things such as value for money, student wellbeing and support, and overall satisfaction. This spring, more than 2,000 students and staff took part in the poll.
Maintaining our silver accreditation is a fantastic achievement for both the team and the University, and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone that’s helped to make this happen.
Student Living was delighted to receive a silver award for the second year running. Not only does this reflect the high standards of accommodation that are provided and maintained at Birmingham, it’s also testament to the great experience students receive throughout their accommodation journey.
The team was commended by residents for making them “feel at home”; showing a “real investment into [their] wellbeing”; and providing “lots of activities where [they] could socialise and feel welcome”.
The sense of togetherness felt in University-owned accommodation was also a highlight, with one student commenting how they “felt part of a community that was always ready to help and offer support”.
Tim Owen, Associate Director of Student Accommodation said:
“Maintaining our silver accreditation is a fantastic achievement for both the team and the University, and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone that’s helped to make this happen.
“Feedback is essential for us to learn exactly what we’re doing right and what we could be doing better to ensure we offer accommodation befitting a world top 100 university. We’re constantly striving to improve our service to do just that and provide students with the best experience possible, so it’s great to see that scores are up in all areas from last year.”
