supramolecular chemical biology

The move will bring world-leading expertise in supramolecular chemical biology and materials chemistry to the School of Chemistry.

The multidisciplinary group are focused on understanding and manipulating the interactions essential to developing innovative solutions to challenges in healthcare, energy, and other sectors.

I am truly delighted that Professor Wilson is joining the School. He is a significant research leader and a scientist of great calibre in the field of Chemical Biology and Materials Science. The School look forward to working and collaborating with him on his current areas of interest, including the development of inhibitors of protein-protein interactions and the development of supramolecular polymers based on novel hydrogen-bonding motifs.

Professor Rachel O’Reilly, Head of the School of Chemistry

My team and I are looking forward to joining the University of Birmingham with its enormous diversity of research focussed on challenges in the life sciences. Our work on enabling methods to understand and manipulate protein-protein interactions is ready to be applied to real problems in biomedicine; the move will help elevate our research to a new level through interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in the School and wider University. We are joining at a really exciting time, with an ambitious program of growth in Chemistry, investment in the new Molecular Sciences building and world-leading facilities - our group already feel the enormous energy around campus and looks forward to contributing to the outstanding education, training and research taking place in Chemistry at the University of Birmingham.
