The 4th Birmingham Business School Education Conference united business school educators to discuss new trends and improvements.
The Birmingham Business School (BBS) 4th Education Conference, in collaboration with Aston and Birmingham City University business schools, marked a significant milestone in our academic calendar. With around 100 attendees and over 40 presentations, the conference saw a record number of submissions, highlighting the growing interest within our educational community.
The event featured keynote speakers Professor Kate Black and Dr Lucy Gill-Simmen, who provided insights on contemporary educational challenges and innovations. Key topics included the impact of Generative AI on education, student motivations, strategies to maximize graduate employability, and the development of long-term skills such as critical analysis and collaborative working. Innovative pedagogical approaches, including Lego Serious Play and art-based methodologies, were also explored.
It is really exciting to see our education conference go from strength to strength each year. The inclusion of colleagues from Aston and BCU strengthened the quality of the presentations and discussions, giving everyone the opportunity to develop their networks. I cannot wait for our 5th conference next year.
The conference underscored the breadth of expertise and significant interest our School generates. Planning for the 5th conference is already underway. This event is a key demonstration of the developing scholarship within BBS, fostering a business education community and promoting innovative teaching practices.
