On 19 June 2024 the Institute of European Law hosted the Annual Meeting of the European Procurement Law Group (EPLG) EPLG – European Procurement Law Group – European Procurement Law Group (eplgroup.eu).The European Procurement Law Group was born in 2008 when a small group of public contract law experts decided to meet regularly to discuss relevant aspects of the law and practice in this area. Members of the Group considered the comparative law approach to be both valuable and necessary in understanding how public procurement law is developed and applied – or misapplied – in the EU and in its Member States. IEL Director Professor Martin Trybus has been a member since the beginning. There are currently 20 members based in Birmingham, Bristol, Copenhagen, Cluj Napoca, Lapland, Lisbon, Lyon, Munich, Nottingham, Passau, Turin, Utrecht, Vigo, and Warsaw and the Group met in all these places over the last 16 years including once before in Birmingham (2015). This year the meeting prepared a new edited collection on public procurement reform to be completed at the next annual meeting in April 2025 in Lyon. Many participants stayed on for the SAPIENS Network Conference on the next day.
