Campus has been buzzing this week as we welcomed back UoB Xtra - our free programme of events, challenges and opportunities to mark the end of the summer term for all our students.
The three-week celebration is designed to bring our student community together to relax, connect and prepare for their future. Whether it’s meeting new people, developing new skills or just enjoying some well-earned fun, UoB Xtra offers something for everyone.
This week kicked off with The Big Birthday Bash, marking the University’s 125th anniversary. Students stepped back in time at our Victorian funfair, complete with a traditional helter skelter, swing boats, and retro stalls. Our outdoor cinema transformed the Green Heart into a film-lover’s paradise, screening film favourites our students voted for, like Interstellar, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and Kung Fu Panda.
Elsewhere on campus, the Careers Network Garden Party provided a relaxed space for students to chat about their future plans over free ice cream, and Xtra Connections brought students together through games, crafts, and refreshments, helping to spark new friendships across the university.
The week also featured the return of the popular Artisan Market, a vibrant Global Celebration with live performances and cultural activities, and our much-loved Campus 3k, where staff and students walked, jogged, or wheeled their way through our beautiful campus!
But it doesn’t stop there!
Over the next two weeks, we have a packed calendar of events for those looking to boost their skills, including sustainability challenges, job search and CV workshops, mental health first aid sessions, and our first ever Festival of Innovation.
