The new China-focused website provides tailored information.
The University of Birmingham is helping prospective students in China to discover an easier route to studying at Birmingham with the launch of a new dedicated Chinese-focused website.
Designed specifically for students, parents, and partners in China, the new site offers tailored information on entry requirements, scholarships, and student life at Birmingham.
Visitors can also explore details of upcoming events, connect with the University’s official WeChat, Xiaohongshu and Weibo channels, and share their details to receive personalised updates and guidance.
We believe our new China-focussed website will prove extremely useful for prospective students and their families in China – giving them a wealth of easy-to-access information about the University of Birmingham as they make key decisions about their route to higher education.
Carla Amos, Director of Student Recruitment & Marketing, said: “We believe our new China-focussed website will prove extremely useful for prospective students and their families in China – giving them a wealth of easy-to-access information about the University of Birmingham as they make key decisions about their route to higher education.”
Launching the website aligns with Birmingham’s drive to boost work experience opportunities for students and help the University’s Chinese graduates get ahead in the job market.
The University of Birmingham recently joined National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE) and Jiangsu Industry Technology Research Institute (JITRI) to launch a programme to help improve students’ career prospects after graduating.
Birmingham undergraduates will benefit from a range of one-year internships working for NICE’s component institutes and associated companies in China. The internships will be available to all students undertaking a Year in Industry placement in engineering, bioscience, computer science, and environmental engineering.
The University recently joined forces with the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association (SORSA) to boost the career prospects of Birmingham graduates returning to China.
The strategic partnership focusses on international talent cultivation, academic exchange, and scientific research innovation. SORSA will provide exclusive registration channels for Birmingham students to participate in practice programmes and career fairs in Shanghai.
Over 200 recent Birmingham graduates from China attended a special recruitment fair as part of SORSA’s Global Higher Education President Forum, part of the First Shanghai Returnees Town International Festival in the Fengxian district of Shanghai.
The University of Birmingham has also partnered with the University of Glasgow to launch an exclusive partnership with JOBShaigui, a leading graduate career support organisation, to help Chinese graduates kick-start their careers after finishing their degrees in the UK.
JOBShaigui will offer a range of bespoke solutions, including online seminars with up-to-date information on the Chinese job market, advice on navigating recruitment processes and priority access to their large network of top employers; in addition to in-country networking events with alumni and employers building on the extensive networks of both universities and JOBShaigui.
