School of History and Cultures Awards in Memory of Dr Julian Greaves and Dr Marga Small

Two awards established for colleagues in memory of Dr Julian Greaves and Dr Marga Small, who died in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

The Julian Greaves Award for Collegiality and Partnership Working

This Award is in memory of Julian’s commitment to working collaboratively and creatively across academic and Professional Services teams to enable the delivery of School activity to the highest professional standard. It recognizes Julian’s extensive knowledge and generous work as a bridge across different parts of the institution. The Award recognizes the significant impact a colleague has made to partnership working in the School, including among academics, among professional services colleagues, and between academics and professional services.

The Margaret Small Award for Academic Citizenship

This Award honours Marga’s warmth, compassion and generosity of spirit. It is in memory of her commitment to the collective endeavour of the School, evident in her collegiality and willingness to put herself forward to support our community, always guided by principles of integrity, respect and kindness. The Award celebrates an academic member of staff who has demonstrated outstanding consideration and generosity, making a meaningful impact to the School as a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for others.
