University of Birmingham experts are inviting people across the West Midlands to join them for a powerful day of discussion on what we can do to be more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
As the world prepares for COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Birmingham Institute for Sustainability and Climate Action (BISCA) is bringing together thought leaders across academia, government, and industry to explore how evidence-based policy can accelerate global climate action.
‘Bridging Research and Policy for Global Action: A day of dialogue for a more sustainable and equitable future’ takes place on Wednesday 17 September 2025 from 10.30 – 17:00 at The Exchange, Centenary Square, Birmingham.

The event also marks the launch of the University’s new report: ‘Bridging Research and Policy for Global Action’ — a call to connect evidence-based research with transformative climate policy. The day will feature:

Following the panel discussion, there will be roundtable discussions focused on how universities, business leaders, youth and society can collaborate to inform and drive real-world change.
The Global Collaboration Showcase will spotlight international research partnerships driving real-world policy outcomes. Through case studies, keynote insights and a Global Leaders Dialog, participants will explore how cross-sector collaboration and diverse methodologies are advancing fair and effective climate action.
