University Liturgical Choir is a scratch choir formed of singers from Birmingham University Singers, University Upper Voices, and University Camerata who come together once a term to prepare Evensong and sing at local cathedrals.

As part of UoB Xtra week, this term the choir travelled a little further afield to London to perform Evensong as a visiting choir in St Paul’s Cathedral. After a rehearsal in the choir stalls to get to grips with the venue’s famously challenging acoustics, the choir performed a selection of works including Brewer’s Magnificat and Nunc Dumittis in E flat, and Stanford’s anthem, ‘How beauteous are their feet’.

The choir would like to thank St Paul’s Artistic Director of Choral Partnerships William Bruce for facilitating this trip - William graduated with distinction from the University of Birmingham’s Choral Conducting Masters Programme in 2021 and is currently enjoying a successful career in London.

Under the guidance of Dr Paul Rodmell, the choir will continue to perform once per academic term at various cathedrals across the West Midlands and beyond.
