On June 3-4 2026, the University of Birmingham will welcome academics, lawyers, NGOs and students to its Edgbaston campus for the 2026 UK Animal Law Conference.

The 2026 UK Animal Law Conference will be hosted at the University of Birmingham on June 3-4 2026.
The conference, co-hosted by the UK Centre for Animal Law (A-LAW) and The Multispecies Collective, brings together a range of stakeholders working towards effective protection for animals in UK and international law.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with this year’s conference theme: 'the future of animal law'. Inspiring keynote speakers and a range of presenters from academia, the legal profession, NGOs and enforcement will share their impactful work to shape the future of animal protection law. The conference also features workshops that provide space for pressing issues to be engaged with more deeply by participants.
The Multispecies Collective is a research group led by Birmingham Law School’s Dr Iyan Offor. The Multispecies Collective is a collaborative group of researchers working together with practitioners to create knowledge, theory and practice for positive change toward futures of flourishing for animals, nature and society. The collective’s work is guided by considerations of: multispecies flourishing, linking theory and practice, change-and future-oriented ways of working, interdisciplinary, and plural thinking. The collective aims to produce research and practice, maintain a community space, manage and connect with a network, share resources and generate impact all in the pursuit of multispecies flourishing. You can learn more about the collective following its relaunch in early 2026.
The UK Centre for Animal Law (A-LAW) is a legal education charity that exists to 1. promote knowledge and education about the law relating to animal protection and, 2. encourage more effective enforcement of legislation relating to animals. A-LAW seeks to be a source of objective, independent legal analysis on animal protection law issues. Whilst legal topics are often complex, A-LAW sees it as their job to explain them as clearly as possible, so as to increase the effectiveness of UK animal protection organisations and to promote informed public debate. In addition to publishing legal analyses and resources, A-LAW provides animal protection organisations with access to high quality legal support to assist their work. A-LAW also hosts events and promotes the teaching of animal law in UK universities.
A call for papers for the conference will open on the conference website in December 2025.
